Christoph Poppen
Christoph Poppen has established himself as a leading conductor and pedagogue, renowned for his deep musical insight and commitment to education. He has held distinguished positions as Music Director of the Munich Chamber Orchestra and the German Radio Philharmonic, and has played a significant role in shaping young conductors through his teaching at leading European institutions, including the Reina Sofía School of Music in Madrid.
He currently serves as Principal Conductor of the Cologne Chamber Orchestra and Music Director of the Hong Kong Sinfonietta. In addition to his conducting engagements, he is the Artistic Director of the Marvão International Music Festival in Portugal and the Seoul Classic Revolution Festival in Korea. Active as both a performer and educator, Poppen is widely respected for his holistic approach to music-making and his dedication to fostering the next generation of musicians.
MENTOR
Michael Becker
The musician and journalist Michael Becker has been artistic director of the Düsseldorfer Symphoniker and the Tonhalle Düsseldorf since September 2007. Since August 2018 he has also been managing director of the newly founded Tonhalle Düsseldorf gGmbH. From 1994 to 2006, Michael Becker was director of the Niedersächsische Musiktage and for 2019, he was elected Chairman of the international IAMA Conference. Also, Becker has been spokesman for the jury of the Opus Klassik Music Prize since 2018 and a member of the jury for the Georg Solti Conducting Competition in 2020.

Soojeong Kwon
- Soojeong Kwon was recognized as an Outstanding Conductor by the Korean Conductors Association, affirming her growing reputation as a rising talent in the field. She has built a solid foundation through a wide range of international engagements, including with the Kharkiv National Symphony Orchestra (Ukraine), Savaria Symphony Orchestra, Plovdiv Symphonic Orchestra, and Chuncheon Philharmonic Orchestra, expanding her artistic vision through diverse symphonic repertoire.
- In the realm of opera, Kwon has deepened her musicianship both as a conductor and harpsichordist in productions such as Le nozze di Figaro, Pagliacci, and Don Giovanni. In July 2025, she will participate as a conducting fellow in a production of The Magic Flute at ICAV (International Vocal Arts Institute) in Montreal. Her experience includes conducting an opera gala concert with the Kharkiv National Symphony Orchestra, participating in masterclasses with the Korea National Opera, and working with numerous international opera institutions, through which she continues to refine her operatic expertise.
- Kwon earned her bachelor’s degree in choral conducting under Professor Hyeock Kim at Yonsei University, and her master’s degree in orchestral conducting under Professor Chi-Yong Chung at the Korea National University of Arts. She is currently pursuing a diploma in orchestral conducting at the University of Music and Performing Arts Vienna (mdw), under the guidance of Professor Simeon Pironkoff. She has also broadened her artistic outlook through masterclasses with world-renowned conductors such as Marin Alsop, Sébastian Lang-Lessing, Sigmund Thorp, and Uroš Lajovic.

EuLee Nam
- In the season 2024/25 conductor and pianist Eu-Lee Nam makes her official debut with Paris Mozart Orchestra at their French Tour and Sibiu State Philharmonic at George Enescu Festival. In this season she also worked as the assistant conductor of Orchestre de Paris under Esa-Pekka Salonen. Recent highlights includes her debut at the George Enescu Festival conducting Romanian Youth Orchestra, guest conducting Neubrandenburger Philharmonie and Norddeutsche Philharmonie. In masterclasses she recently was mentored by Jaap van Zweden, Cristian Macelaru, David Reiland and Johannes Schlaefli, conducting Seoul Philharmonic, Orchestre national de Metz Grand Est, Nürnberger Symphoniker. She is one of the 7 conductor fellows of La Maestra Academy, supported by Philharmonie de Paris and Paris Mozart Orchestra. She studied her Bachelor of Orchestra Conducting at Hochschule für Musik "Hanns-Eisler Berlin with Christian Ehwald and Alexander Vitlin, her Master at Hochschule für Musik und Theater München with Georg Fritzsch and Marcus Bosch.

Hyunsik Shin
- Hyunsik Shin was born in 1992 in Seoul, South Korea.
- In 2017, he completed his Bachelor's degree in Flute at the Catholic University of Korea, studying under Professor Sujeong Yeo. In the same year, he performed at the “Debut Concert for Young Artists” commemorating the 80th anniversary of the Chosun Ilbo.
- From 2019 to 2020, he studied orchestral conducting at Hanyang University under Professor Heechun Choi. In May 2019, he was invited as a guest conductor at the regular concert of the Contemporary Music Research Society of the Catholic University of Korea.
- Since October 2022, he has been studying orchestral conducting at the Hochschule für Musik und Darstellende Kunst Mannheim with Professors Stefan Blunier and Cosima Sophia Osthoff.
- During his studies, he has worked with the Kurpfälzisches Kammerorchester, Philharmonie Baden-Baden, and Philharmonie Reutlingen. He also participated in conducting masterclasses and concerts with the Mannheim National Theater Orchestra and the Kaiserslautern Pfalztheater Orchestra.
- In May 2024, he completed a masterclass with Martin Sieghart, conducting the Slovak Radio Symphony Orchestra in Slovakia.
- In May 2025, he won first prize at the 4th International Conducting Competition “Orchestra’s Conductor” in Bucharest, Romania. In the same year, he was a semifinalist at the “Campus Dirigieren” conducting competition held in Germany.

Sangjun Han
- Sangjun Han is a conductor whose artistic insight and expressive clarity are grounded in a wide-ranging repertoire spanning from the classical to the contemporary, and from symphonic music to opera. He graduated from the composition department at Gyeonggi Arts High School and earned his bachelor’s degree in composition and orchestral conducting at Seoul National University, where he studied under Professors Hun-Jeong Lim and Yun-Sung Chang.
- During his undergraduate studies, Han actively directed chamber and orchestral projects, leading rehearsals and performances while deepening his interpretative skills through modern works such as Stravinsky’s Dumbarton Oaks. His musical vision further extended into the operatic realm, where he conducted concert productions of Mozart’s Le Nozze di Figaro, Donizetti’s L’elisir d’amore, and Puccini’s La Bohème, developing a keen sensibility for theatrical pacing and vocal-instrumental balance.
- In 2023, he participated in a masterclass led by conductor Seokwon Hong with the Gwangju Symphony Orchestra, where he received musical advice and perspective on rehearsal technique and interpretation, further refining his conducting skills.
- Han is currently pursuing a master’s degree in orchestral conducting at the Hochschule für Musik und Theater Hamburg, under the mentorship of Professor Ulrich Windfuhr. His continued interest in contemporary repertoire led him to conduct Kurt Weill’s opera Der Zar lässt sich photographieren, which was praised by German media including Hamburger Abendblatt for its nuanced interpretation and musical sensitivity. He has also collaborated with professional ensembles such as the Hamburger Symphoniker, the Hamburgische Staatsoper, and the Lüneburg Symphony Orchestra, steadily expanding his presence on the international stage.
