MENTOR
David Reiland
Appointed as the 7th artistic director of the Korean National Symphony Orchestra from 2022, David Reiland reveals his strong ambitions for KNSO, which strives to expand internationally beyond S. Korea. Reiland, born in Belgium, having studied music in Brussels, Paris, and Salzburg and worked as a globally based conductor overseas. In other words, he is a typical “cosmopolitan” musician who is in demand by the current classical music realm. Reiland, who is familiar with various cultural arts and presents new repertoires with a broader perspective, can be said to be the best conductor for KNSO, which strives to actively respond to the rapidly changing art environment of the 2020s.
David Reiland is one of the most distinguished conductors on the European stage and has been working with the world’s most preeminent orchestras. He was anointed knighthood (chevalier) in the National Order of the Legion of Honour in 2023 from the French government.

Michael Becker
The musician and journalist Michael Becker has been artistic director of the Düsseldorfer Symphoniker and the Tonhalle Düsseldorf since September 2007. Since August 2018 he has also been managing director of the newly founded Tonhalle Düsseldorf gGmbH. From 1994 to 2006, Michael Becker was director of the Niedersächsische Musiktage and for 2019, he was elected Chairman of the international IAMA Conference. Also, Becker has been spokesman for the jury of the Opus Klassik Music Prize since 2018 and a member of the jury for the Georg Solti Conducting Competition in 2020.
